ABOUT US

Committed to Excellence in Law

My practice, which focuses on the representation of print media, was borne out of a passion for the newspaper business.

I grew up in a newspaper family and love all aspects of the business.

My parents bought their first newspaper when I was seven years old. While other kids rode their bikes and played during summer vacation, I put border tape around ads on the paste-up boards.

After law school, I went to work for a firm specializing in water law. But, within a few months, I found myself representing more and more publishers with issues involving their newspapers. At some point, I realized I only wanted to represent print media.

For seven years I served as associate general counsel for the Metropolitan News Company, which publishes newspapers throughout California. Through my position there, I became versed in a variety of issues faced by media companies.

In 2004, I purchased my first of several newspapers. As an owner, I got a first hand understanding of the daily challenges of running a publication.

Throughout the years, I have represented approximately 45 California newspapers with issues involving employment law, government bidding process, legal advertising issues, first amendment, defamation and adjudication law.

I always enjoy chatting about the newspaper business, so if you believe you have an issue, please call me.
